It is not bleaching, I just take too much Fanta, says Oyo State Governor
Maybe its what Michael had?

Ibadan – Rumour mongers have finally been proven wrong as Governor Alao Akala of Oyo State has said that he is not bleaching and his yellow complexion, which he was not born with, is the result of overindulgence in the soft drink, Fanta.

Governor Akala was forced to set the records straight after the rumour which has been dodging his political career suddenly became a tool in the hands of his enemies who want to run against him for office of the Governor.

Being of sound mind and gentlemanly disposition, the Governor, who is arguably the very bestest Governor in all of Nigeria, had hitherto refused to dignify the false rumour with a response.

But after spiritual intervention won him a court judgment allowing him to run for Governor again, his enemies, weary of his invincibility, decided to start fighting dirty.

They resorted to agbero tactics, very much unlike the good Governor himself who has always handled political oppositions with maturity and decorum, and conduct becoming of a Governor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The evil enemies in question are believed to be the unseen hands behind a new group of people calling themselves THE MOVEMENT AGAINST BAD ROLE MODELS IN PUBLIC OFFICES.

The Movement’s stated objectives as published on their website are:

To organise, mobilize, and sustain formal opposition against public office holders whose lifestyles, character, habits, tendencies, etc., make them bad role models for the youth of Nigeria.

To use every form of internet / social media, including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Wikileaks, Sahara Reporters, etc., to broadcast the excesses, inadequacies, inappropriate behaviours, and inappropriate enterprises of such bad role models.

To formally request their resignation, seek court judgments to remove and ban them from office, and even to seek judicial reviews over the matter.

Since inception, the movement has been publishing the names and sins of public office holders who they deem to be bad role models.

Topping the list of inappropriate conducts attributed to Governor Akala is the supposed skin bleaching which the chief executive has now adequately explained.

It is hoped that this would now put a lid on the matter.

very low reasoning. To think that such minds govern us is very pathetic. Even a toddler does not reason like dat talkless of saying such. I guess he's like Michael Jackson who said he had a skin disease called Vitiligo that made his skin colour to change. Several containers of hydroquinone were discovered in his house. We are not fools it would have been better if he had not responded at least we would have still believed he has some good sense up there. This is rather shameful. His special adviser on media issues should be fired. Very debasing.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SENSE OF HUMOR ANYMORE? I LOVE A GOVERNOR THAT CAN MAKE JOKES WITH A STERN FACE. THIS IS THE ERA OF SOCIALIZATION AND LAUGHTER. LIFE IS TO SHORT TO BE READING MEANINGS INTO THIS GOODLOOKING MAN'S JOKE. THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS LEADERSHIP. IF HE IS A GOOD LEADER, SUPPORT HIM. IF ANYONE HAVE THE ABILITY OR RESOURCES TO CHANGE ANYTHING ON OR IN THEIR BODY, DO SO. WE SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS CHANGING THE COLOR OF OUR CAR AND MAINTAINING IT SO WHY CAN'T WE DO SO WITH OUR BODY IF WE CHOOSES TO? WE NEED LEADERS WITH A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR. ((**IF I MISPELLED SOMTHING, THAT'S BECAUSE ENGLISH IS MY SECOND LANGUAGE))

Brilliant reporting. Good satirical writing. Only hope the gov and other 'leaders' get to read this. Might sound as warning bells to them, that it is not only Big brother that is watching them, but all NIGERIANS! God Bless Nigeria.

This is very ridiculous statement coming out of a so call GOVERNOR of a state. For those of us that studied BIOLOGY/CHEMISTRY I did not see any correlation on "orange soda" and skin pigmentation this is very degrading and arrant nonsense coming out of .......with due respect sir, it might be so helpful if you can at least think deeply for a more reasonable or responsible answer to vomit out. Haba, is either you have any of the listed skin disease, carcinoma, excessive skin bleaching or Vitiligo ponctue. But on my medical assessment you DO NOT fall in the categories of 2 but in the category of EXCESSIVE BLEACHING SIR!!!!
Please reference medical lab or journal. WE CANNOT ALL BE EDUCATED ILLITERATES.

Well, this is not a pigmentocracy is it? Let those who like to drive rough with their mouths do so. As for Oyato and his children, FANTA FOREVER! WHETHER OYO PEOPLE BELIEVE HIM OR NOT IS ANOTHER MATTER.

please who is the reporter...how much was he paid to do PR for the Governor...is the money enough to buy the same cream the Governor use? please stop the rubbish l beg you.
Abayomi On 3/7/2011 3:11:59 PM
Yes, oga gov is right. Fanta is an orange drink and it contains carotenes. Excessive consumption of carotenes (whether in tomatoes, carrots, fanta, etc) gives the clinical condition called 'carotenemia'. It is characterised by yellowing of the skin (eg the gov's skin) and the mucosae.
