Nigerians are the happiest people on earth

Nigerians are the happiest people on earth
I dey laugh o!

Western Australia - Perth University has concluded that Nigerians are truly happy people -humorous to the core of their bones.

The research which arrived at this startling conclusion was conducted over a period of 20 years, and it would seem that the findings would be relevant for some time to come. It must be said however, that all the years were wasted because all they had to do was ask an average Nigerian lawmaker whether or not he or she was happy.

But the findings of the research beg the question, what makes one truly happy? Well, apparently there’s still some truth yet in the age old adage, laughter is the best medicine.

The research particularly highlights the fact that Nigerians are never deprived of laughter, witness the government. Apparently, the Nigerian government keeps its citizens constantly entertained. Indeed, according to the research, the Nigerian government is a joke, as a matter of policy.

Either by evolution, or by grand design of some very intelligent and forward thinking nation builders, the Nigerian government has developed the ultimate panacea to pain and suffering.

The government perpetuates constant buffoonery in public, with no shame, carrying out actions and making utterances to the utter amusement of the clapping and jeering public. The leaders of the country stumble and fall in the comedic enterprise known as Nigeria, delivering equal measures of slapstick and tragedy.

And the country has never lacked seasoned jesters to lead her: from the self proclaimed general with the big sunglasses – who didn’t want the world to see his twinkling mischievous eyes so no one would know how much of a jolly fellow he really was, to another general, whom every time he opened his mouth, dust moulds of the past rolled out, to the current chief jester who has perfected his routine of playing a clueless empty barrel.

Past actors who have kept the citizens entertained include Musa the friendly ghost. With him, the joke was obvious from the moment he ascended the ‘throne.’ Nigerians laughed all the way till the lights went out in their unlit homes.

Well Nigerians are still laughing, a fact that even their immediate past jester in chief has attested to, he too, he dey laugh o!

And it would seem that the genius strategy is set to go continue into the foreseeable future making it the only governmental policy to survive regime change. After all, if it aint broken, why fix it?

Every story in the press in this unique country is another big joke - happy people they truly are.

The only group of people not laughing are the satirists, for how do you poke fun at a country that is already hilarious on a per second basis?

A toast, therefore, to the happy people of the happy country, and condolence to the satirists trying to make fun of them.

Laughter really is the best medicine; just ask a Nigerian.
