Younger Nigerians ask older Nigerians to define the word Youth
Old is the new Young

Lagos – As the Nation votes to elect a new government, younger Nigerians have asked older Nigerians to please clarify once and for all what the word Youth really means.

The younger Nigerians, speaking through a representative who is twenty-three years old, wanted to know what qualifies one as belonging to The Youth, and at what age one stops being part of this strictly exclusive group.

The younger Nigerians explained that it became imperative for them to seek clarification on this matter because virtually all politicians vying for office of President are in one way or the other claiming to belong to The Youths.

“We cannot all be youths,” said the representative of the Younger Nigerians, “so we ask that we all agree on an age that once passed, a person would be deemed to have progressed from youth to something else.”

In fairness to the younger Nigerians, only one of the country's Presidential aspirants is not claiming to belong to The Youth, while all other aspirants who are all over fifty firmly claim to be legitimate youths.

The spokesperson for the younger Nigerians proposed a cut-off age:

“Without malice, we the Younger Nigerians wish to propose that since people say a fool at forty is a fool for ever, we should all agree that Youth ends at forty, and that anyone who has marked their fortieth birthday should no longer be referred to as Youth but as something else.”

The young man proposed that over-fortys should either refer to themselves as elders, if 'old people' didn’t appeal to them, or as non-youths, if they still insist on having the word Youth included in the description of what they are.
